In 1887, the concept of the slot machine was invented by a mechanic who's name were Charles Fey. Founded in San Francisco, they were homemade and proposed to local mini-casinos in an agreement with possessors to charge a 50% rental fee for their usage. There is a wrong thought that slot machines in the 19th century were bigger than modern ones. In actuality, they appeared the same as modern slot machines. Also, symbols were various back then; fruit symbols came out later as such entertainment machines began to expand. Having created such advantageous machine Charles Fay started trading his slot machines and earned much that way. Liberty Bell is the name of the first slot machine. An increasing trend, Charles Fey was revolutionizing the local casino industry with this primitive game.
In 1907 Charles Fey made a contract with Mills Novelty Company and they began producing a huge amount of slot machines. Mills Liberty Bell had been the first model. 3 years later, the Mills Company designed the very first fruit symbol slot machine named the Operator Bell. The drawback of early slot machines was that they were produced of iron and it was not so easy to lug it from one place to the other.
